Quels rollers choisir pour débuter ?

Inline skating is a great way to exercise and have fun, and learning does not have to be difficult. All you need is a correctly chosen model that offers comfort and convenience. Soft wheels? They are only one of the elements that matter. Discover what to remember when buying your first inline skates!

How do you choose inline skates for beginners?

Inline skates must be neither too tight nor too loose. A poorly fitted boot causes rubbing, which quickly discourages skating. Choosing the right size is therefore extremely important, particularly for children. The Movino Cruzer One has a four-stage adjustment system, allowing it to be adapted to growing feet and used for several seasons.

A well-fitting boot stabilises the foot and improves safety while skating. The type of fastening also affects the level of support. Inline skates can use laces or buckles. The Cruzer One combines both systems with an additional hook-and-loop strap. Correct fastening is half the battle, but what about the wheels?

Wheels: hardness and diameter

Both beginners and more advanced skaters should focus primarily on two features: wheel hardness and diameter.

Hardness is measured on the durometer A scale. The higher the value, the harder the wheels. For example, soft wheels up to 83A work best for beginners. Why? They absorb shocks better and offer excellent grip. They do not allow high speeds, but this is an advantage while learning: slower skating gives more control, increases safety and makes it easier to focus on technique.

Wheel diameter is stated in millimetres. Wheels up to 70 mm are considered small and are recommended for people who are just starting to skate. Large wheels, measuring 84–110 mm, are mainly chosen by experienced riders who value speed and dynamic skating.

But that is not all. The materialused to make the wheels also matters. The most popular is polyurethane, a rubber-like plastic. It is the best choice for beginners, because polyurethane wheels are easy to control, making learning considerably easier. The material also offers much better grip than plastic wheels.

Comfortable skating

Next, consider the features inside the boot.

For health and comfort, it is worth choosing skates with a ventilated liner. This is particularly important in summer, when feet naturally become warmer while skating. Air circulation makes skating even more enjoyable and helps reduce wear inside the liner.

One example is the previously mentioned Movino Cruzer One, which has breathable mesh and breathable foam inside the boot.

Which inline skates should beginners buy?

Black, white or mint? Colour is a matter of taste: what matters most is feeling good in your skates. This is equipment for years, so choose something that suits your style. If you prefer a classic look, choose black inline skates. If you like to stand out, Movino's range also offers models in bolder colours.

Remember that the skates alone are not everything. Whatever your skill level, always wear a helmet and pads for the knees, elbows and wrists. These are fundamental to safe skating.
